We, Mike and Erica Roth, are the two pastors at Saron Church and we want to share with you our initial experience of Saron. Open minded, Inviting, Welcoming, and Family. Questioning, yet faithful. These are some of the first descriptions that come to mind. Are we bragging? Yes and No.
These Characteristics have nothing to do with our presence at Saron…. they were here when we arrived. While the church should be proud of who they are, they are not boastful in an arrogant way, they are humble and loving.
One of Saron's motives is that "Every member is a minister". Active persons of Saron take this motto seriously and live it out daily. These characteristics are rare in this chaotic world today! What a blessing this faith community, this faith family is to Linton. A blessing indeed!
Pastor Mike, originally from Florida, found his way to St. Louis to attend Eden Seminary after doing management work for Wal-Mart stores and receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida. After seminary graduation, Mike served a church in Kirkwood, Mo. for over six years.
Pastor Erica is an Oklahoman who floundered around in college for too many years, finally decided upon a degree in medical product design and shortly afterwards made her way to St, Louis to attend Eden Theological Seminary as well. She served as a conference-wide youth ministry coordinator and within a congregation in Chesterfield, Mo. as Associate Pastor for over two years.
To keep our spirits alive and well, we hike together (Mike REALLY hikes/backpacks a BIG trip every year with his identical twin),we go to movies, read and play together and enjoy playing with our cats. Mike loves to climb and rappel. Erica loves to work with her hands and would feebly proclaim herself an ‘artist’. We also enjoy the occasional skeet or target shoot with Erica’ a father, Les.
Our faith is the most important thing in our lives. We are excited to be in Linton, and to be a part of Saron United Church of Christ, we feel very blessed to have been embraced by the community as a whole.
We would love to have you stop by the church sometime, but we also look forward to meeting each of you wherever you may be. We hope our paths cross often.
MAY EACH OF YOU KNOW THE PEACE OF GOD IN YOUR LIVES.
